That is true, but QuickBooks has a list of pre-mentioned errors that help identify problems, software, network, or other, in all QuickBooks products. Once a user detects an error, they will check the error code to run on the QuickBooks database to get an easy solution for the error.

There may be other times when these errors do not resolve using the error codes, but those cases are few. In this article, we will discuss everything about the “PS” error that occurs when you try to download a payroll update. We will also help you to solve the error using a step-by-step guide, and by the end of the article, you will be well-versed in solving the issue on your own.

One of many common pop-up QuickBooks errors is the PS032 and PS077 errors. The initial letter in the code defines the category under which the code falls – PS means Payroll error. These Payroll errors occur at times when users try to download any QuickBooks Payroll updates.

What cause the QuickBooks PS077 or PS032 Errors?

These QuickBooks errors occur due to many other systems, product-related or compatibility issues. Here is the list of possible reasons that might cause these QuickBooks errors:

  • QuickBooks is unable to read the software information.
  • Missing or incorrect billing information.
  • Damaged QuickBooks Payroll components.
  • Expired QuickBooks billing.
  • Damaged or outdated company file.
  • Unregistered QuickBooks product.

Some Points to remember

  • Validate the QuickBooks payroll subscription.
  • Update the QuickBooks desktop application with all the latest releases.
  • Take a backup of the QuickBooks company file.
  • Verify all billing information entered on the payroll account.
  • Ensure that the system has only one QuickBooks application installed in it.

How to Solve QuickBooks Error PS077 or PS032?

QuickBooks payroll errors can result from compatibility, billing, or network issues. Here is a guide to help you resolve the QuickBooks PS077 or PS032 errors.

Solution 1

  • Log out from the QuickBooks account & close all windows.
  • Log in to QuickBooks again.
  • Go to File and select Utilities and Repair QuickBooks.
  • Check whether you can download the payroll updates.

Solution 2

  • Log in to your Intuit account and verify the QuickBooks license.
  • Check whether you are using the latest version of QuickBooks.
  • Verify billing information, account information, and dates for your QuickBooks.

For users using QuickBooks on windows, turn off the User account control (UAC) and try downloading the QuickBooks Payroll updates again. There are two different scenarios at this time:

Scenario 1: The system has one Version of QuickBooks Desktop

  • Open QuickBooks and create a backup of the company file.
  • Close all the remaining windows after the backup is complete.
  • Go to start and right-click on the background to All Apps.
  • Click on the Run option.

A lot of QuickBooks payroll issues are due to restrictions on background applications. These steps remove application restrictions running in the background on your computer for proper functioning.

Scenario 2: For multiple versions of QuickBooks Desktop

  • Download the latest payroll tax tables in QuickBooks.
  • Re-sort the lists and Verify Data/Rebuild Data process.
  • Perform Uninstall/Re-install in Selective Startup.

Solution 3: Change the CPS folder name

  • Open the file explorer on your computer.
  • Go to local disk C.
  • Click on the Program Files folder.
  • Open the QuickBooks desktop folder with the same version software.
  • Click on the file components and also then go to the payroll folder.
  • Right-click on the CPS folder.
  • On the drop-down list, click on rename folder option.
  • Rename the file to “CPSOLD.”
  • Create a new CPS folder.
  • Open QuickBooks desktop.
  • Now, try to download the latest payroll tax table update.
